Brief: To create a poster and book jacket in response to the NGV's Pierre Bonnard exhibit.
Concept: A book jacket incorporating a range of Bonnard's original works, with accompanying colours significant from those chosen works. A poster exploring Bonnard's exhibition and increasing advertisement and outreach to potential viewers.
Outcome: Two posters, one of which incorporates a snapshot of work from Bonnard's painting, 'The Studio with Mimosa' 1939-46. The second, using an original painting of mine, with a strong focus on the colours seen in Bonnard's own paintings, especially that of 'The open window, yellow wall' 1919 and 'The Studio with Mimosa' 1939-46, with both posters aiming to advertise the opening of the exhibit. Finally, the book jacket incorporates sections and elements of Bonnard's paintings, including; 'Dinning room overlooking the garden' 1930-31, 'The window' 1925, 'The Studio with Mimosa' 1939-46, and finally 'The peaches' 1916. To compliment the colours within the paintings, the spine and front and back flaps use the same colour to subtly tie the three pieces of work together and make them feel cohesive. The purpose of the book is to advertise a book, being 'sold' by the NGV to share his work with more viewers.
